14/01/121 Kellington (Won) 5 - 7 "Wow, what can I say, a match we (In my opinion) dominated all through and turned out to be a 12 goal thriller with our victory only being assured in the last few minutes. In honesty, I never felt we were going to lose, even at 4-1 down. A good rally in the second half and in the end they weren't sure which way to turn. Dan's second goal was again Messi like, a fantastic hat trick by Stu & Johno chipping in with two rounded off a good offensive performance. There will be sterner tests to come and we are going to need to concentrate on our defensive duties more (all the team). Overall, I'm sure everyone came off the pitch buzzing as its nice to finally put one over Kellington". Cheers Ian
7/01/12 Sherburn White Rose (Won) 4 - 2 "Another hard fought victory, good all round performance by the whole team against spirited opponents looking for a quick revenge for our pre Christmas victory. Although it was a struggle I always felt we had too much for them and in the end our superiority shone through. Well done to the whole team and particulary Paul who led from the front" Cheers Ian |

17/12/11 Sherburn White Rose (Won) 4 - 3 "Oh dear, what a difference a week can make, or was it the Christmas festivities from the previous night?? Fair to say we absolutely stole a victory from the jaws of defeat. In general, the application to the match seemed in total contrast to the week before. Lets remember what we said at half time. We do not have a right to expect victory, it has to be earned, every team is capable of beating us if we don't treat them seriously. I know I sound critical, but ask yourselves, in the games we have lost, did we match the appetite of the opponents??. Well done Dan for getting out of bed, being kicked upside down and scoring a fantastic goal. Hope the hangover was soon forgotten. Have a great Christmas and New Years break and lets all get fired up for our re-match with Sherburn on the 7th January (it could be fun)" Ian | 10/12/11 Pollington FC (Drew) 1 - 1 "An excellent performance which unfortunately did not end up in a victory I thought we deserved. Seemed like for once every one was really fired up and wanted the win, all round the TEAM performance was brilliant and I could not have asked for more. Well done to Mark for standing in for Goalkeeper and making it look like you had been there all season!!" Ian |
03/12/11 Hensall (Won) 4 - 2 "After what I thought was a shaky start, we got a well deserved victory against a willing and committed Hensall team who to their credit never gave up. Once again we played some good football and only our lack of concentration cost us two goals. Need to up the ante again for next week against another local rival who put one over us a couple of weeks ago, so no motivation needed from me??? Well done to Stu who I thought had his best match to date "
Ian | 19/11/11 Pollington FC (Away) Lost 3-1 "Once again indecisive defending and bad luck in front of goal cost us in a hard fought clash. With yet another change in the back four (thanks to Graham for helping out) it is easy to understand why our performances are somewhat erratic. As we mentioned we are conceding too many goals (average of 3 per game) which only puts pressure on the guys at the other end. We all need to take a long hard look at ourselves and start to perform as a team and not as a group of individuals. Then (and only then) will the obvious talent within this squad start to shine through.
Well done to Tom who I thought had his best match to date and to Graham who was steady as ever and never really looked like it was only his second game.
Lets take the positives, we created a lot of chances and but for some bad luck, bad decisions and good defending by Pollington FC we might have got something out of this game.
See you all in two weeks"

12/11/11 Fairburn United (Away) Lost 2-4 "This was always going to be a difficult game against higher division opponents and in the end it was a disappointing result which in no way reflected the play during the game. I felt everyone gave a good account of themselves in an all round good TEAM effort, against the odds. We continue to change our team around due to people being unavailable so as yet we probably have to play the same 11 two weeks running, something that would help I'm sure. We have a very good (strong) squad on paper and when the day comes that everyone turns up, it will be almost impossible to select the team. Special mention this week to Stu and Will, both coming back from serious injuries and making a good account of themselves". Ian. | 05/11/11 Carleton South Pontefract (Away) Won 5-4 "After a promising start, we allowed Carleton to punish a number of unforced errors. In a 'see saw' game, we battled extremely hard and the victory must be put down to an all around Team performance where everyone gave their best in some pretty atrocious conditions underfoot. Well done to all those involved, it just shows the strength in depth we are developing". Ian. |
